Australia's first boutique winery, Lake's Folly was established in 1963.

A small, true 'estate' producer with only 30 Acres (12 Hectares) of vineyards, Lake's Folly's wines have been grown, vintaged and bottled on site since 1963.

ONLY TWO WINES ARE MADE: a Cabernets (Red) blend and a Chardonnay, which are available in limited quantities and are highly sought, selling out each year through Lake's Folly's Cellar Door and loyal Mailing List.

The Cellar Door is open 7 Days (when wine is available), but is closed for several months each year after the wines sell out.

Open 4 to 7pm 7 days if they have wine for sale so look for signs or ring before hand. Lovely small boutique winery. I love their red but at $70 to over $100 per bottle it is at the high end of the price market. There was a tasting fee but not applied if you made a purchase. The... More

A long time supporter of their wines (including the fact that a friend in China has a bottle shop carrying this label) - our visit to this winery on Thursday Dec 29 was an absolute disappointment. We were the only ones at around 12.30 - entering the small tasting room, we were ignored. We actually had to approach the man... More

Probably one of the best spots we stopped on our trip! My friend had previously visited and wanted a return stop to see if she could buy the Chardonnay (which was already sold out!). Unlike the larger vineyards, intimate setting with charming decor and let's face it, fantastic wine! There were only 2 to taste (as mentioned the Chardonnay was... More

Roger is delight and the wine on tasting is outstanding. We have wanted to visit Lakes Folly for such a long time and finally we're lucky enough to drop by at the right time. They sell out of their wine for a reason, well worth a visit!

Lake's Folly is as good as it gets for Australian wine. One of the ten best wineries in Australia and the best in NSW. Exquisite hand-crafted wines that dance in your mouth and age for many many years. Rod, the winemaker and General Manager continues to produce outstanding wines years after years that are a true reflection of their terroir.

We only had time to drop in to two or three cellar doors and chose Lake's Folly based on its reputation for greatness. Were the only ones in the cellar door and basically had to ask the fella if we could taste. He then responded there was "a red and a white"... and then no further information. Basically could have... This winery is not always open as they generally sell out of their new vintage very quickly. I was fortunate to be able to taste an buy their 2013 and 2011 Cabernet but unfortunately there was no chardonnay left. The cellar door is small but the service, explanation, discussion and tasting was of the highest level and a great experience.... More

Lake's Folly's vines are some of the oldest in the Hunter & is reflected in the quality each season. The red blend is my favourite & I try to get there every year to try & get a case before they go. Thoroughly recommended

Having ordered each vintage for the last 25 years, it is wonderful to make the pilgrimage to the vineyard. The vigneron was helpful and on this occasion offered a tour of the vineyard to give more insight into the history of the vines
