My husband wanted to get back to surfing while visiting here and he tried the Pines Surfing Academy for two lessons. Both lessons were taught by Neal Collin, "Frenchie", a young man with lots of expertise, a good personality and a great teaching style. My husband had surfed 40 years ago, so he wasn't a total novice, but he needed a solid refresher. The lesson comes with a wet suit, rash shirt and soft board. The first morning the lesson was at the North Wollongong beach. It was a pretty calm, flat wave day, but enough for a good refresher. It went so well, that he booked a lesson for the next day at "The Farm" south of Wollongong near Shellharbour. Better waves, but foamy, yet the lesson went well and he had a great time with some good rides. We found the Academy to be easy to schedule and very accommodating. If you have experience or are a total novice, give the Pines Surfing Academy a try. They have private and group lessons.…
