We had some beautiful summer days to fill while staying in Launceston CBD with two little ones. I originally took the kids to the park to find the monkeys (turned out to be very easy to find) but we ended up spending nearly two full days there. The playground is excellent for little kids, the paths are great, the flowers... More

Take the time to visit city park and see the macaque monkeys as well as the beautiful gardens, take a ride on the train and sit on the worlds longest bench seat. Don't miss a coffee at the Albert Hall cafe

A nice park to relax or picnic in and there's a monkey enclosure that offers some entertainment. Also an interesting fern enclosure.

The City Park is in the centre of Hobart bounded by Tamar, Cimitiere Street, Lawrence and Brisbane Streets. It has beautiful trees, lawns and wrought iron freestanding rotundas. In one corner is the Stately Albert Hall. There is also a glass enclosure of Red Faced Macaque monkeys from Japan where the kids can view playful baby and fully grown monkeys... More

Visited the monkeys and stood watching them for at least 20 minutes. There were so very young monkeys and their mothers were certainly keeping them close by. Walked around gardens before playing a game of chess on the massive chess board.

Nice park and the monkeys were very good. Clean. Tidy and well maintained. Very quick visit. All good, except not enough signs around the park to locate specific park attractions.

Missed it on our last trip to Launceston 16 years ago (pre Trip Advisor) but judging by the reviews here we made a point to visit this time. We weren't disappointed. It was a very hot and sunny day and the park looked fantastic in the bright sunlight. We also decided to have lunch in the park's cafe and we... More

We recently stayed in Launceston for just 3 days. We went back to the park 4 times, the gardens are beautiful and the monkeys are just sooo entertaining. No matter what time of day, make sure you drop in.

Yes, the monkeys are fabulous and you could spend all day watching them but there is a hothouse full of beautiful plants, manicured lawns just begging for a picnic or sunbathing. And if you have a little one (or not) shout yourself and have a ride on the train. Good playground for children but keep watch out for bullies. Cutest... More
