Lake Wendouree has some of the best play grounds around and is great for family get togethers or as somewhere for the kids to run off a bit of energy. Its also a great place to walk and if that's not enough has some eateries with great reputations. There are also a number of events held here through-out the year.

A place to relax or a place to run hard and get fit. The huge trees all the way around give wonderful shade for a picnic for all the family and thr "younger" kids have a wonderful playpark to explore and use which will keep them occupied for long enough to give parents some peace to relax. BBQ's are free... More

This lake provides a wonderful site for people to exercise and partake of food/drink in one of the many cafes dotted around its perimeter. You can run like Mona or just stroll along and observe nature. The lake has many waterbirds and some nice gardens along the walk. You can walk a while and then divert into the gardens to... More

Easy to get to on V-Line train. Close to station. Lovely flat walking (or running) track. Had lovely picnic near the 1956 Olympic garden and a coffee at nearby cafe. Lots of places to eat/drink around the Lake, family friendly with good bike tracks etc. Plenty of toilets too - always handy

This is quite an amazing venue. Great to see all the rowing clubs spread around the lake. Make sure to park and take a long stroll around the lake.

Love the swans and the general peace of the lake. Nice pubs and cafe's near by. Go for a walk and take a picnic basket.

The walk around Lake Wendouree is a must do activity each time I am in Ballarat, with spectacular scenery (particularly when lake is full) and friendly people on their morning / evening walks.

When in Ballarat this is a lovely place to visit. Sit and enjoy the views. Go for a short or long walk. The full circuit walk around the lake is 6km. There is plenty of bird life to see. Lovely peaceful place. Visit also the botanical gardens across the road
