In 1855 this prefabricated timber home in an inner Geelong suburb was imported from England by the Ibbotson family and erected in an elevated area with excellent views to the You Yang mountains. Since it was the gold rush era it was difficult to get workers so a prefabricated dwelling was a good choice. Three generations of the Ibbotson family... More

Our guide was most helpful and very well informed about the history of the property and gardens. It gave us an insight into the early days of Geelong.

The Heights was constructed from pre-fabricated material that originally came from Germany. Until 1975 it was owned by three generations of the Ibbotson family. In 1975 the house and most of the contents were donated to the National Trust. As a result, the house has many personal touches throughout the house. For example, there is a snuff bottle collection that... More

Really enjoyed visiting this historic National trust property and hearing the stories of the family and how the property developed over time since the Victorian days. Enjoyed the tour and the informative comments from the guide. The gardens are very nice and this property is recommended to all who are interested in history and historic sites.

We recently visited the Heights for a morning tea. The gardens are beautiful and all looked after by dedicated volunteers. They also look out to uninterrupted views of the You Yangs. The volunteers are also currently restoring the old water tower an amazing job. You can tour the house the largest pre-fabricated weatherboard home left in Victoria from 1855, The... More

The Heights prides itself as a special occasion venue and rightly so. Access to the house is limited but the grounds and verandah beautiful. In the private school area of Geelong, and while this sits atop a hill, a drive or walk around surrounding streets is worthwhile. Great architecture

We were welcomed by two staff members and shown around this lovely home, it felt like the original owners were still living here. So nice to visit a historic home which has rooms that are not roped off so we could look around the rooms easily & enjoy the little trinkets. Very informative and well worth a visit, can imagine... Attended an open day at this property. It is a National Trust Property and the Historic House sits lovely in its garden setting. The property's gardens are available for hire and a bunch of dedicated volunteers make sure that the property is looking it's best for the numerous people who visit. This property like so many others is relying on... More

The minute my (now) husband and I entered the grounds of the Heights we feel in love with it. We decided there and then that it was the place that we wanted to get Married. The house especially holds a life of its own, and the grounds are absolutely stunning. The staff were great, really helpful and informative right up... More
