The beach is just a beach, but go over to the pier at dusk and check out the fairy penguins hanging out on the rocks and going for a swim, so cute! They aren't afraid of people either, so you can see them closeup :)

Don't expect too much going on along this short stretch of beach front...there wasn't much going on or people here, mainly locals taking a walk or cycling, which is good if you are into cycling. Do expect to see many dogs with their owners along this beach, as in other parts of St.Kilda. A theme park nearby may be exciting... More

This is a pretty little beach with plenty of places to eat. It is also right on the tram line so it's easy to access by train. The beach was clean and not too crowded during the week. Go back to the pier at sundown and you can see the little blue penguins come in from the sea and return... More

This beach is really different to what I expected. Can't compare at all with Bondi in Sydney or LA. Really not a must see location if you are on a tight schedule. Restaurants there and not cheap at all so better eat before somewhere else. Luna park is right next to it in case you travel with small kids which... More

Enjoyed walking along the beach, amazing views of sun set. It was quite cold so we did not swim but the water was clean and inviting....

Quite ordinary basic beach. Mainly shallow water and rough sand. Disappointing food options, only expensive pub and restaurant choices.

It gets crowded and some time a bit dodgy when there are lot of teenagers gathers. but, usually a great and safe beach. There is also a section where you can take your dog in the water (separate section) Great spot to watch sunset.

Fab eateries both on the board walk and up the main drag. Fabulous ice-creams. Great for a dip with a mostly sandy bottomed beach. Definitely worth the bus ride from the city.

Quiet and clean, we chose to stay in this suburb so we could have the beach option. Make sure to go to the pier at sunset to see the native penguins!
