We did the entire length of Caves Road and were pleased we did. It is obviously a bit slower going than the main highway but is worth it going through tall forests and past the major cave attractions of Margaret River Area.

You can reach almost all the attractions in Margaret river just by traveling this road from Busselton all the way to Hamelin bay.

Our friends had only a short timespan in the South West and wished to take in as many attractions as possible. Is there a better way to highlight the attractions between Busselton and Margaret River other than a leisurely drive on Caves Road with many detours to wineries and beauty spots. Pleasant temperature, sunshine, dappled shadows; it really is the... More

Caves Road is a real pleasure to drive long. Safe and good quality surface, the road drives you past decadent and well appointed winery after winery..a seemingly endless drive that for us included stops at Leeuwin Estate, Xanada, Cape Mentelle, Vasee Felix, Piero and many many more..

I'm not sure exactly how to review a road....but this was a nice clean road, with a couple of fantastic views off of it (and some dead kangaroos). It seems a little slow at times, but you get where you need to.

Caves Road will definitely brings me beautiful memories of many wineries, amazing Karri Forest and wonderful beaches and caves the roads leading to. We drove on Caves Road everyday while visiting Margaret River and loved it!

It's half an hour directly from Dunsborough to Margaret River. It's easy driving too. You'll pass wineries and breweries along the road plus one or two artisan shops and places with pets etc that are suitable for children. When you get there, the township of Margaret River is quaint, but there is no river, only a creek.
