Lovely blue pools at the end of a 10 min walk. Much better than the blue pools at Haast Pass. However, quite a number of sandflies so do cover up. Heard some folks do jump into the blue pool from the rock. It's a 30 min one way drive from the main Hokitika town, so you might want to give... More

It's a bit of a drive from Hokitika, but well worth it. The drive is stunning, over a glacial plain, with lateral moraines either side and the foothills of the southern alps in front of you. The walk through the forest is short and gentle to the gorge flowing with glacial water which is a turquoise colour.

Wow! Wow! And wow! A pleasant easy stroll on excellently maintained paths leading to great viewing platforms, on to a suspension bridge and finally to an area you can descend to the water level to touch the most beautiful of blue waters! Free to walk but donations requested.

We went on a sunny Autumn day and it was beautiful. There were a lot of people there though, and also sandflies.

What can I say? Aotearoa - New Zealand at its best. We love these sorts of outdoor opportunities and encourage all other Kiwis to explore their own country. I am not fit and wondered about it initally but not taxing at all.

Beautiful bush, stunning river/gorge and fun suspension bridge. All ages will enjoy this small walk. Not easy for wheelchairs or strollers.

We went out here even though it had been raining all night and sadly the water was a milky, dull grey. Still a pretty area and a nice walk just keep in mind the water is not always the blue you see in pictures. Still recommend doing it though.

A short easy walk to a swing bridge suspended over milky turquoise water and pristine bush. Easy for children with a bit of a thrill in crossing the slightly swaying bridge. Beware of sandflies though!

It's an easy walk from the car park. The water color of the gorges can have a deep turquoise. Enjoy the scenic drive from Hokitika (esp. on a sunny day).
