Enjoy the atmosphere of an original shearing shed. The show consists of hand feeding our drysdale Ram ??? Ram-Man??? (who is very photogenic) watching a sheep being shorn, the wool being sorted and pressed. This is followed by a general discussion giving information about sheep shearing, sheep breeds and wool types. Hold a shearing hand piece, old blades shears and Ram horns. During spring you can touch, hold and feed a lamb. Time 30 minutes.

Went today with a couple of mates from the uk to show them around. What a great setup he has. Not only did he show the kiwi hospitality with they way he trusts everyone, but also with a lot of hands on experiences that they don't otherwise get, it should be made a lot more public as it was one... This is one of the things that is open post earthquake (and so much is closed). The farmer is full of information about wool and yields from various breeds of sheep in New Zealand. At the beginning you can pet a lamb and he'll allow one of them to be given a bottle of milk (so they are not overfed)... More

Our one night stay here was very enjoyable and we would recommend it to anyone. The accommodation was lovely and the proprietors were very friendly and welcoming. We attended the sheep shearing show whilst staying at the accommodation, which was enjoyable and interesting. Being very close the the seal colony on the Fyffe Quay this was a lovely spot to... As city folk from the states we don't get much opportunity to see something like this. We enjoyed it. We learned a bunch about shearing and raising sheep in New Zealand. It was both informative and entertaining. It's also pretty cheap. I'd recommend it if you're in Kaikoura.

We really enjoyed the sheep sheering show. We loved meeting Pete's dogs and his sheep. We certainly were up close and personal! He even had a few local reasonably priced souvenirs that we purchased.

For only 12 dollars you get a personal encounter with the sheep. Pete is awesome, learning you about sheep farming and shearing. You get to feed the sheep, photograph and hang out with the two lovely sheep dogs.

We liked the show, especially feeding the baby sheep. Very informative and gets you close to how local farms are. The owners are very friendly.

Cool show - worth the visit! Just pop in on your way to the seal colony and find out the daily show times. It's a really personal thing and you'll make friends with Jed the dog immediately. Very relaxed and enjoyable and not what every tourist in Kaikoura does. Takes about half an hour. We had a good time.

What a great show for those who have or have not seen sheep shearing. The chance to feed a lamb and meet the ram. These Drysdale sheep get shorn twice a year which is unusual as most breeds are only done annually. Thanks it was a great show and reasonably priced.
