This national park whose name, Watarrka, comes from the Aboriginal word for the umbrella bush, is best known for the spectacular sheer walls of Kings Canyon. This scenic landscape of rugged ranges, cliffs, rockholes and gorges and is a must see attraction of central Australia. Please note that in hot weather forcast to be 36 degrees celsius and above, there are access restrictions to some walks.

We did 2 walks in or close to Kings Canyon. We did Kathleen Springs (about 20km further from the resort than the other trails) and the Creek Walk. Both were splendid and scenic. We saw some great bird life and obviously also the rock formations...More

Well marked hiking trail enjoyable for the whole family... The initial climb was steep at times but well worth the effort. The variation in views and elevation occupied our children throughout the 6.5 km.

We completed the longer Rim Walk - definitely needs some fitness but if you take your time up the first section it is well worth the exertion! An absolute marvel. The park is well signed with good facilities and water only at base of walk....More

Great walks under the hammering sun. The Park is jointly managed by the Traditional Owners and the Parks and Wildlife Commission of the Northern Territory.

Stayed for 2 nights . Did helicopter ride then rim walk. Both invaluable experiences. Caravan park employees are exceptionally accommodating and helpful. Just make sure you plan and book early;so as you get a site.

nice park very expensive , diesel $1.98 litre, can of baked beans was $3.80. was worth the trip out for the scenery again customer service lacking
