The displays were excellent and it was easy to get close to the items for a proper look which isn't always the way. It's worth going! I would have liked to watch the DVD in a seated area. It was hard to hear with children crying.

Not expecting a lot but this was a real find. A fascinating overview of life in Arrowtown over the years. An impressive number of exhibits for a small museum. All very good.

Recommended by our b&b host this was a gem of a small museum which traced the time when there was a gold rush in the area. Interesting and informative and it was clearly a period when "men were men" etc. Further along from the village is a reconstructed Chinese village as the Chinese did a lot to assist and support... Great little Museum with lots of history of this area of New Zealand. Well worth the hour we spent there. Entrance fee was not too bad for all of the displays that are interactive and kid fun/friendly.

This is a fabulous museum for a town of its size. It mostly covers the early days of the town. Not much on the Maori.

Having seen the beautiful historic high street and wondered around the old Chinese settlement this museum put the history around them and much more about the town / area as well. Definitely the museum is a bigger than you think. I spent a happy half an hour for my $10 but we have got used to museums being free in... More

Thank you for your review. We need to charge an entry fee as we are not a government funded museum. We are a Charitable Trust and apart from a few grants (which we are very grateful for!) we are a self funding museum. We are pleased to hear that you feel that your visit was worth the $10 entry fee... More

Cheap to get 8NZD for senior ticket, so didn't know what to expect so pleasantly surprised and probably spent approx 1 1/2 looking round. Lots of interesting artefacts and information about the early pioneers. Especially like the stories about the women who made successful lives following the death of their husbands. The story of Jack Tewa was also very interesting.... More

A very interesting and well laid out museum, lots of interesting information. I could of stayed longer if it wasnt for my two young children wanting to leave. We also hired pans to go gold digging and that kept the kids entertained for a good whilte. Very helpful staff too.
