Overview
More
Australia's premier rail trail offers more than 100km of scenic, sealed, off-road bike trail in North East Victoria. Starting in Wangaratta, the rail trail connects culinary villages including Milawa, Beechworth, Rutherglen, Bright and Myrtleford. Discover the diverse landscape of the High Country region - from natural bushland to open farmland, fertile valleys and some of Australia's most spectacular mountain ranges. The rail trail meanders alongside clear rivers, vineyards, hops, orchards and groves, with plentiful food, wine and craft beer experiences dotted along the way.

A group of 11 of us from NSW rode this trail. We also did some side trips and stayed a night in Myrtleford. Bus-a-bike took us and our bikes back to Wangaratta. Although quite cold, Autumn is such a beautiful time. Highly recommend it.

This is suitable for people of all fitness levels as you can do it in small stages at your own pace. There's plenty of resting points for walkers and cyclists but bring your own water. There are ample places to purchase food every 8 to...More

Cycled from Bright to Wangaratta, via Beechworth, with my family and would highly recommend the trip, especially in better weather!

We - mum and four kids aged 5,7,9 & 11 - spent seven days doing the rail trail, staying in Wangaratta then Everton, Beechworth, Myrtleford to Porepunkah. We intended to camp along the way, but cabins were infinitely more comfortable after a hard days ride,...More

I liked the way we did it, Wangaratta to Bright, as you do the nicest section last. We went via Milawa, having driven to Beechworth for some cycling around there on a separate day. We did it in two days, staying a night in... More
