Even if you’ve got limited time in the Whitsundays, Whitehaven Beach is a must-see stretch of shore. Discover the white-sand paradise on a morning or afternoon cruise that provides a perfect introduction for first-time visitors. Beat the daytime heat in an air-conditioned catamaran, enjoy on-board tea, and take advantage of free time to swim and sunbathe one of Australia’s most beautiful beaches at your leisure.

Well done walking paths and boardwalks mostly close to the water. There is some shade but in heat of summer would recommend either early morning or late afternoon.

We stayed at Cannonvale so we explored the Walkway in one direction one day which was full of hidden statues and treasures whilst walking to Cannonvale Beach. In the other direction it's a little hotter as not so many trees for shelter but you'll visit the Marina with the quaint coffee shops, and restaurants and continue on a further 20 minutes to Airlie Beach. Ideal with pram or wheelchair and even better on a bike or scooter.

Loved the walk from Shingley Beach into town and return each evening. With the exception of one small area that skirts around a boat building yard the walk is all along the water front. It is well lighted after dark.
