Unfortunately, the day we were there there was a power blackout due to a storm, but the lady in charge had opened all the curtains and we were able to see pretty well everything - quite a bit of history tied up in what was...More

Been there on a sunny day but as soon as we entered the door, we experienced a cold atmosphere. The ticket's prices are acceptable ($5 for adult and $2.5 with concession). It is a fairly small prison with creepy mannequins inside each cell. There is...More

This was one of our favourite things we did in Albany. The Goal is inexpensive to visit and there is so much to see. Great for kids and people of all ages. Many stories and lots of old antiques to look at! They run night...More

We went to see the Historic Albany Gaol. It was quite interesting. By the way, Gaol in Australia is pronounced jail. These were the villains, murderers and thieves. The ones in charge had lots of comfort, but not so for the villains. We saw lots...More

An interesting place, plenty to see, read about and look at. Some of the manequins are strange but enjoy the history of this place.

Reasonable entry price although have a look at the free museum (*multiple buildings) next door first if you have limited time. Kids enjoyed it and was also educational

Pleased we took the time to look through the goal. Was surprised actually how small it was but as pointed out to us it was in early settlement and nuambers were not high.

Really interesting exhits plus incredibly inexpensive for such a worthwhile experience. Various stories of the past show how we have it so easy today. Being able to be in the cells and prison areas gave you a real feeling for their stories.

What it lacks in size it certainly make up for in quality presentations and information boards. You have access to all parts of the goal including both male and female cells, day rooms, staff quarters, kitchen and bake house. Well worth a visit
