A lovely atmospheric spot. The kids loved it apart from the dark cell. There was plenty of information regarding its history. The link with Jack the ripper made for a good read

A short walk from the centre of town. A great place to learn about early WA and Albany history. For Jack the Ripper fans there is an interesting tale about a possible suspect.

Walking through the gaol was a real eye opener of the hardships that prisoners endured - granted they wouldn't have been in gaol if not for a crime. The surrounding walls of the gaol were totally amazing with broken glass cemented in to stop escapees using this as an exit point, got to be seen to be believed. And to... More

Cheap entry. Central location. Very interesting Albany and police history. Should be shown to all present day prisoners.

This is an interesting building, the convict labour hiring depot 1852-1876. There is plenty of artifacts and sighnage detailing the history of the Goal. You can walk freely around the gaol viewing the cells, excercise area, cook house etc. There are stories that a ghost has been heard in the gaol and the interesting history of some of the prisoners.... An amazing old building, full of history and sad stories. You must visit this place. Some of the exhibits are so life like it is scary. I revisit this place often

The convict gaol and museum are easily accessable down near Princess Royal Harbour. There is plenty of free parking at the door step. The museum is very well set out and beautifuly preserved. The sinage is excellent including the extensive section on "Was this Jack the Ripper". Take the time to read all the detail of this increasing story.

This is an interesting museum illustrating the convict history of Albany. The building itself was built by the convicts and each section is well documented and displayed.

Looks can be deceiving from the outside this place appears rather small, once inside however keep looking as there doors to other treasures. Great local info on the towns past and worth the visit.

Called in before we were leaving Albany. The lady at the front desk was very informative and told you the history of the Gaol with good stores. Only $5 entry fee and worth seeing.
