I've only ever wanted to be a winemaker. I've been doing it now for 35 years - that's a good thing!I still love it. It's what gets me up in the morning, puts a smile on my face and provides the drive to keep doing it better and better.I can't separate any one part of winemaking over any other – it's the diversity of the activities from being on the tractor, amongst the vines, harvest, winemaking, bottling & packaging, marketing, selling and telling the story of Australian, NSW, Mudgee, Lowe, Louee and Tinja Wines that are all part of what I do.I want to take these grapes that I grow, get them in a bottle with as little intervention as possible and get them to you with a minimum of fuss and a maximum of excellence. Making great wine in a good year from lovely vineyards is easy. There are also years where it's tough for all in the industry, and as an organic grower and maker we have few weapons; this is when age and experience also helps. The pinnacle is good wine. I don't want to tell you that it's hand crafted or boutique produced or estate bottled, while it is all those things it is more important to me that it is honest and free of jargon and allowed to be - wine! Wine to be shared with friends and food and enjoyed not worshipped.I also love telling and teaching about wine. That's one of the reasons you're likely to see me at our Cellar Door. It's why I've started the Lowe Wine club to ensure our enthusiasts get our rare and museum releases along with the ‘Lowedown' three times a year.Drop in, drop me a line, enjoy a drop. David Lowe

We booked in for lunch with a group of 24. We had been a month before and just had to come back as we loved the whole place so much. Platters under the trees on a hot day. Everything is great food, wine and especially the staff. Best staff so helpful and engaged. They seem so passionate about the wine... More

We visited Lowes as part of tour in Mudgee but what an excellent choice, the wines were very good & not a bad price either but what really sets it apart is the staff who were all so welcoming & friendly, we stopped for the platter lunch, beautiful fresh breads, oils & selection of meats paired with a great rose,... Every time we go to Mudgee a visit to Lowe is a must! Our group settled in for a few hours of wines, food and getting to know the staff, who are so friendly and helpful. The view is just stunning, a must do in Mudgee.

My fiance and I we both love wine therefore we have done a lot of wine tasting around the globe, and we must say Mudgee is our favorite place to do so, while Lowe Wines is one of our favorite wineries we have ever visited. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. And from the moment you enter the winery you... More

Large cellar door with multiple spaces for tasting, they take individuals and buses, very helpful & knowledgeable tasting staff made you feel special, lovely gardens and lovely sculptures. Surprisingly good given its size. Serves lunches although we didn't try them they looked good. Wines very enjoyable.

Stopped in for lunch with family. Shared the platter and picnic lunch with a bottle of rosè in the garden - perfect on a sunny day!

We stopped here on a wine tour for lunch and it was great. After a wine tasting we shared the two share plates with another couple and there was plenty of food. The courtyard was absolutely stunning and a great place to enjoy a glass of wine and pat the resident puppy. The wine comes highly recommended from many of... More

Had one of the best afternoons in a long time here at Lowe. Shane greeted us and instantly made us feel welcome and relaxed. That man is a gem! We ordered the sharing plate, which was substantial and great quality, including fresh hot bread, and lots of local treats such as the High Valley Cheese and a house made tomato... More

What an incredibly well oiled operation. So so busy, but we were greeted, asked to wait for the hostess then guided to a table, given complimentary wines while we waited & then a little board of bread olive oil & cheese turned up. Wonderful! Waited 3mins & our own hostess arrives to take us thru the wine list. Love love... More
