I found this little hidden gem while scrolling looking for attractions near Eastlake. Squires Castle is beautiful, dog friendly with nice picnic/ grill areas, and well maintained grounds. The Castle is quaint with history flowing through it.

My daughter decided she wanted to get married at Squire's Castle, so we made the four-hour trip to Ohio for her wedding. It was so beautiful with the castle as the backdrop.

A wonderful place for a picnic and/or a hike. The castle itself is so interesting and you can wander around inside. There are informative panels to read. There are many different trails to hike on. Some are quite hilly. The grounds are extensive and there are plenty of picnic tables and benches. You can also just spread a blanket on the lawn.

I heard about this place and had to stop. The park is wonderful in and of itself as a nice place for a picnic or other family/friend outing. The castle is interesting as the shell of the building. It is a great photo op during a day at the park.

A very tranquil location to stop and spend a few hours. When you know the history of the building, it makes it even more exciting. Just to imagine those who were there and the original intention that this castle was originally to be just the guard house, one can only imagine what the full estate would of been like had it been built. Be prepared for other visitors, this building is located within a park area. When we were there, there were several people having picnics, taking graduation and engagement photos, and even a group playing frisbee. We did a full review of this location on our blog site and YouTube channel.

This is a sweet little castle. You can park right in front of it or hike to it from other park locations. We parked in front and walked up the hill. It is free to enter and open air.
The only draw back is that it is wildly popular and it constantly being used for photography sessions and videography sessions, which makes it difficult to tour through all areas.
When we went, there was a senior picture session in one end and the other end had a fellow video taping a rap video with some loud explicit language. It would be nice if everyone who used it was more considerate of others. Although the rapper group, did let us go through their room after one run through of the song.

Beautiful castle to visit if in the area. No charge to visit. Just an old empty castle sitting there waiting for visitors. Very picturesque! It was nice to walk up to it and just walk around it and through it and take pictures. There is a walking trail I noticed behind it. If you like castles come visit!

It was a beautiful day to visit the very nice park. It was interesting to see the remains of this old building.

My husband and I did a day trip to this park. We picked the perfect day as it was cool and trees were peaking with fall colors. The castle is beautiful; not large like a castle, but definitely built to look like a 'mini' castle. The building is well maintained and you can walk through the entire structure. The grounds are beautifully maintained as well. I would highly recommend visiting this castle if you are in the area.

The drive from the west side was well worth it! This is a shell of an old stone house, with a huge lawn and picnic tables. We brought a picnic lunch and ate before exploring. The hiking was not difficult but we did cut it short because of the rain. I got some awesome pictures of my kids running through the structure and on the trail. Highly recommended for a unique exploring spot for the family.

Yes, of course you can go inside. There aren't many rooms and there are stairs to go inside, but the whole structure is open and there aren't any doors.

Are the trails leading up to the castle easy enough to take a stroller on? Is there parking close by the castle?

Leading up to and around the castle, from the parking lot, all is paved and easy going. Trials are iffy' many ok, others pretty rugged. Depends on the stroller too, I would think.

what are the hours in the Park. I am driving from a distance Friday and it gets dark early now around 7 or so and wanted to know if I could be there a little after dark.

It is located on a road (River Rd) that is public domain, however because it is considered a park, it closes at dark.
