Contact Diane, John as your guide is a must! He helps you to spot the birds, and as your eyes get used to looking there is a real buzz spotting all types of heron and eagles. Wow do they look good flying or guarding their territory. So many varieties and colours, kingfishers and lots more to record. We were lucky... More

1. You need to hire a driver or take another form of transportation that will drop you off and pick you up. We traveled from Nairobi and hired an UBER to drive us to and from Lake Naivasha and Hell's Gate for $70USD. The driver picked us up from our hotel and spent the entire day with us (6:30 AM... More

If you want to see hippos up close in the water, Lake Naivasha is the place to do it! Basically, you take a leisurely boat ride for around 90mins during which you see dozens of hippos wallowing in the water. You will also see giraffe, wilder beast and many different types of birds on Crescent Island. Our boat ride cost... More

The lake is amazing, take the boat ride that will bring you round the lake. The boat ride is very nice and the scenery fantastic. I think it's worth it. Lasted about 1 hour. The boatman will purchase a fish and throw into the water where you can see the eagle catching it. Cost is usd30 for adult and 20... More

At our last breakfast in Pelican Lodge we finally learnt that instead of describing eggs 'sunny side up' you can simply say: 'macho'. And as everybody knows breakfast is the most important meal of the day so equipped in this new and useful knowledge, full of new enthusiasm, we go to see Lake Naivasha. On the way we see some...
