Every country has its symbols and legends and the Czech ones include Pilsner Urquell lager which has been brewed in a town called Plzen (Pilsen) since 1842. Since then the fame of Pilsner Urquell beer has spread around the world and, inspired by this exceptional brew, more than two-thirds of the beers produced today are commonly known as pils, pilsner or pilsener. The Pilsner Urquell brewery is a unique industrial heritage site which holds the status of Anchor Point of the European Route of Industrial Heritage (ERIH). The brewery tour showcases all of the authentic places where Pilsner Urquell lager has been brewed for more than 170 years, and where its story continues today. You will see the heart of the brewery - both the historical and contemporary brewhouse. You will smell and taste the raw materials that are used to brew Pilsner Urquell, and the panoramic cinema will take you through the brewing process. And at the end you will taste unfiltered Pilsner Urquell beer tapped straight from oak lager barrels in the historic brewery cellars. The brewery is open year-round. The journey from Prague takes about one-and-a-half hours and you can either travel on your own by car, bus or train.

I am a beer lover and homebrewer so when my wife wanted to visit Prague for their Christmas market, I agreed only if we could visit the Pilsner Urquell brewery on the way. We arranged our tour online and Tom was our guide. It was basically a private tour as we were the only ones scheduled at 4:30 in the... More

About one hour of an interesting insight into a very popular industry, a world famous brewery with a great pilsner urquell lager beer brand. The way of the pilsner beer pruduction gave name to a technology worlwide namely - pilsner or pils. We enjoyed the stay there - it exists since 1842.

Have been to a lot of brewery tours. I was really surprised at the size of the Urquell brewery. Very nice to see their growth and history and got to taste unpasteurized beer in their cellars. They have a very nice gift shop and a nice restaurant. No walking in to restaurant- be sure to get reservations. We were disappointed.... More

Could not have loved this tour more. I've been to a number of brewery tours in Europe and this was far and above my favorite. It was entirely unique in that you can actually see the bottling and packing process in real time as well as the barrels actually filled with the beer they'll later bottle. I loved that it... More

Visited the brewery with my partner and friends. We all absolutely loved the tour. It was such a well organised tour of the brewery and its grounds. The information given is all top notch as they take you through its history and the making of the beer itself. Would definitely recommend and would definitely visit again!

Fun afternoon tour in Pilsen. The unfiltered beer was absolutely delicious. It was a little hard to hear and understand our guide at times, but overall good tour.

The day finally arrived for my scheduled tour, but of course I woke up with a cold (I mention this because the beer actually made me feel better)! During the tour, guests get to learn the history and then you are taken to see the assembly line, which is basically the bottling of the beer. After this, guests are taken... More
