Top ways to experience Prague Castle
The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Hradcany & Letna
Your experience in Prague will never be complete if you do not see it from the top. Hillsides, stretched from the west to the north, provide spectacular views of greenish copper cupolas, narrow cobblestone streets, bridges connecting both river banks and green gardens from red-roof tops of centuries-old houses. Prague pulls you into its 1300 year old history. Walking up the hill or stairs to Prague Castle, the historical seat of Czech rulers and the majestic Saint Vitus Cathedral can leave you speechless (and out of breath). Luckily, plenty of terrace cafés overlooking gardens and beautiful parks are available to provide rest and a place to catch your breath again.

    Great historical
Great day out. Few things to note: You don’t need a ticket. You can just walk in and see almost everything. If you want to see the torture chambers etc (which were fab!) you need the basic circuit ticket. You can buy this at the castle where they don’t charge for children or seniors. The book ahead websites all charge for these tickets. Toilets are a huge issue. All are chargeable within the castle unless you are lucky and go into one of the cafes and meet someone who has been given the door code by their waiter. Seems crazy to charge for toilets in a visitor attraction. The history of league castle additional ticket was definitely with the 200czk. We enjoyed learning about the history of the area. Need about 2-3 hrs to see it including the gardens. The cathedral was Incredible.

    A magical place
A stunning array of different buildings and history, a magical tour through a myriad of people, beliefs and lives. The walk to the castle allows you to wind up the hill and look across the whole of old Prague… within the walls the cathedral has so many stunning and vibrant stained glass windows all telling different stories. The old Basilica is in complete contrast and felt much simpler and quieter. I loved this place.

Great views but prepare for the crowds!
Great way to pass 2 to 3 hours. Get there as early as you can ie before 9am. Don't waste your money on a ticket. Just go through security and soak in the castle. You can walk in and out of the main knave of the cathedral without a ticket. Though if you wish to explore it more or see the Palace insides and the golden lane you will need a ticket. Toilet available for 20 koruna with a chance machine in the ticket office. Restaurant at the side was not great. Overpriced baguettes with very slow service even when quiet.

Amazing Castle - Don't miss it if you visit Prague
This was the best part of our trip to Prague. The castle exhibitions are worth the price. However, be careful with the other paid exhibitions. We went to the hologram exhibition, which we found a bit overpriced, but it couldn't ruin the fun time we had in the castle itself.

One of the main attraction in Prague
The castle is one of the most known places in Prague, therefore a little bit crowded. You can visit the old castle, the entrace fee being included in the basic tour ticket. Here you can find more about Bohemia's and Moravia's history, about the kings who ruled this region and their lineages and many more interesting stuff.

    Half day at Prague Castle
Wow! Incredible gothic cathedral, huge castle and charming little houses at the outer bailey. Spend at least 4 hours minimum to explore so you won’t have to rush. I spent an hour inside the cathedral staring at the magnificent dome and stained glass windows! Don’t forget to visit the old tower of the castle where they display all kinds of medieval torture implements.

    A Magical Castle Indeed!
We so enjoyed our visit here. The external architecture is beautiful and well preserved, but the inside is the best feature of this historic marvel. If you can, try and get a guided tour of the inside. The tour we had through our Viking River Cruise excursion was simply amazing. It included a wonderful meal in a private dining room, a private classical concert, unobstructed city views from a private balcony, and access to the many treasures on display in the castle, including some private areas dedicated to the royal family. Trust me, the cost will be well worth it!

    Museums within the Castle
Just walking the grounds is awesome. Our second day we went to see within the churches and museums. Our favorite was the #2, The Story of the Prague Castle. The displays and artifacts rival those we saw at the National Museum. Maybe better. Both of these museums need better signage to inform you of what you are seeing. Some of them are on glass that is hard to see. Some are placed low so that you must crouch. Some plaques are in such dim light one cannot read. These are antiquities which should be fully appreciated. Disappointing. Hint: get the audio aide, as it would supplement the poor signage.

    Beautiful buildings
We did skip the line but didn’t need to as no queues to buy tickets. Very good experience, got the 22 tram as stops right near the castle so not as much walking, you do lots when you get in. Cathedral very impressive.

What an amazing day spent here. It didn’t disappoint. Would recommend getting the tram which stops right outside. Bought beat the line tickets. Saw everything we wanted to. Such an amazing day. Just stunning.

Not the biggest castle or palce in the world or even Europe as advertised. Checked on good old Amazon and it comes 20th in the world. Numerous 1 is the Louvre. Even Buckingham Palace is bigger.

What a wonderful place to visit. You need plenty of time to see everything. Like a lot of places in Prague it is very reasonably priced. The castle being the biggest in the world is vast. This is a must to see if you are in Prague. It has very beautiful buildings. All the buildings are kept in very good condition. Highly recommend this to everyone.

It tends to be crowded and there are no signs in English indicating the itinerary, but can buy audioguides or a tour. The gardens are unimpressive, the interior quite empty. In the square there is the oldest Cathedral in town; every hour they have change of the guard, only at 12.00 pm with the band; the palace is still residence of the government officials so closed to the public. They have a tower next to the Cathedral that requires a separate ticket for entry. There is also a nice old Basilic; cute golden lane has little houses representing life of the poorest that lives there till last century, little tour shops and a collection of armories. The best is the view of the city. Worth a visit, but lower your expectations of you visited UK or French castles

Wonderful place, be prepared to pay for everything. If you're expecting London or Paris forget it, the Museums are small, with limited collections. The churches are beautiful, as are the views. Don't forget to walk in the grounds and gardens.

Fascinating. Due to Easter overcrowded so we could not get in due to enormous queues (and partly closed on Easter Sunday). But. Spectacular in itself, beautiful and gorgeous views over the city. Not to miss.

Prague Castle is huge and wonderful to visit. The grounds are free and there are entry fees for the various museums/exhibitions on the grounds. We visited the Lobkowicz Palace which we found very interesting.

The views are entertaining but the crowds are substantial and this was a Thursday morning. Thankfully I Ubered up and walked back. It would not be pleasant on a rainy day. The delays caused by the people having to take 10 pictures. Just listen, learn and enjoy the sights. I did the 4 building tour and missed one. Still well worth the price.

Prague Castle is a must see! The architecture and and views are fabulous. Yes there are a lot of steps to reach it but it is well worth it. Do go early to avoid the crowds! We got there for 9am and it was relatively quiet. Two hours later the place was thronging with tourists and guided tour groups. You don’t have to pay to enter the courtyard, grounds or gardens and you can spend hours exploring for free! I only bought a ticket for the bell tower, 297 killer steps to the top but the views are magnificent! There are a couple of cafes in the grounds too where you can rest your feet. A beautiful place to spend a few hours.
