If not searching purposefully, Ungelt square is very easy to miss, unless you do some passage-diving for fun around Tyn church. This was exactly what I did, exploring various corners. The square is very attractive architecturally and there are several nice shops and restaurants. I especially liked botanical shop and Koh-i-noor shop. In the latter, I even bought myself a... More

This is a secluded and hidden little square behind the main square and close to the landmark Church of Tyn. It contains a smattering of little shops and restaurants with many other streets leading off to different parts of the city.

Ungelt Square is a small square by the Tyn Church. It is secluded and that is part of it's charm. On our most recent visit, we walked through and it felt like a hidden oases in comparison with the impossibly crowded Staromestske Namesti, just steps away. The three architectural gems you want to look for while there: The Granovsky Palace.... More

Our hotel was located in this square. There is an Irish pub located here as well which make it a lively square at night. The restaurants here are nice as well and cheaper than going the 200 meters to the old town square.

Bohemian/gothic surrounding with some forge best people watching. Every side has tons of side streets and alleyways that have great shopping. Mostly touristy stuff but with effort you can find diamonds in the rough. Don't miss it...I don't think you could if you tried.

I had marked this square as a 'visit' place on TripAdvisor saves, else would never have found it. It's very well hidden and the usual tourist traffic normally concentrates only on the old town square area. This courtyard is in front of the Tynn Church and has a very unique charm about it. It is a smallish square with a... More

As you are walking towards The Dubliner Irish Pub you come across this fantastic little square. Overshadowed by Old Town Square, but then again what wouldn't be Overshadowed by that most gorgeous of Squares,Ungelt Square is a tiny little square with some interesting buildings answer a smattering of pubs, bars and restaurants. The gothic look of the place makes for great... More

This is a difficult to find courtyard near Tyn Church and Old Town Square. It is frequently called Tyn Square. The word "Tyn" means enclosure and at one time the area was an enclosed courtyard separate from the rest of the town. This area was a sanctuary for merchants and under the protection of the king. The word "Ungelt" is... More

There are a smattering of restaurants, shops and a hotel in the quiet little square. We like the Indian Jewel restaurant for food and The Dubliner for drinks and meeting people.

We accidentally saw this square while we were looking for a way into the Church of Tyn. This 12th century cluster of buildings is also called Tyn Courtyard, meaning enclosed courtyard. It was built for the foreign merchants who paid custom duties for the items they brought into the city. This area was supposed to be their sanctuary so that... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
