Prague Zoological Garden is situated near the center of the Czech capital, in a unique rugged landscape on the bank of the Vltava River. It opened in 1931 and during its existence of more than 80 years it has risen to become one of the most prestigious zoos in the world. Today, it is the second most visited tourist destination in the Czech Republic, just after Prague Castle. 4,600 animals and 680 species live in Prague Zoo. You can explore 12 pavilions and 150 exhibits over 58 hectares. The kids will love the Bororo Reserve, chairlift, mini-train, observation tower, paddling pool and Children’s Zoo. The pride of the zoo is its Elephant Valley, home to a sizeable herd of Asian elephants. The Giant Salamander House, where you can see the largest amphibians in the world – the critically endangered Chinese Giant Salamanders – is extraordinary as well; and the African House with an adjacent vast meadow inhabited by herds of antelopes and giraffes is worth your attention, too. However, Prague Zoo also has other interesting places: for instance, the Pavilion of Gorillas with the only breeding family of gorillas in the Czech Republic; Chambal, presenting one of the most endangered species of crocodiles in the world – gharials; or the Indonesian Jungle Pavilion, a giant greenhouse presenting a sample of the South Asian rainforest and its inhabitants.

We had heard that the Prague Zoo was world class. It is. Its more of a botanical garden with animals than a zoo. My wife, who loves tigers more than me got a chance to see one just across a glass wall, the closest she's...More

This is an amazing zoo. It is one of the best that I have seen and I have been to quite a few zoos in many states and countries.

Great to visit with friends or family. Amazing for a relaxed day outside or outside the city. The only negative thing is that not all information about the animals is in English

Extremely large, would recommend to have at least 3 hours here. Coffee, beer, food easily accessible inside. When you buy tickets, be sure to get a map over the zoo area, can be difficult to navigate all the different paths

Prague Zoo is at the edge of the city in the north from the center. Although Easily approachable thanks for the good transport connection. If you visit it with kids, recommend to go there or leave from there or both :) by boat. From the...More

Not much to say about this zoo except that it's certainly world class. Very big (we didn't get to see everything) but plenty for everyone. There are also children's areas - our kids rode the railway more than once! Only downside is that it can...More

We enjoyed the Zoo, more so than the Berlin Zoo that we had visited just a few days earlier. Relatively inexpensive entrance fees, and lowest cost concessions I have ever experienced at a zoo. $1.50 for a draft beer as an example.

One of the best Zoo in Europe. Very big territory, consider to spend all day inside. You can find on their webpage animal's feeding schedule.

No. You view the zebras in their enclosure via a raised walkway so you will be looking down at them. But there is a exhibit in the zoo where you can pet farm animals.

Taxis are a bit of a question mark in Prague. AAA-taxi.cz gives taxi fair estimations. They are one of the registered taxi companies. There is also Uber in Prague.
