We could have spent far more time at this compact art gallery. We are in our 50's, and visited with two adult children, first taking in the temporary Ai Wei Wei exhibit, which was very impressive. We only had about minutes for the permanent collection, so missed a lot. TIP: our student son paid $0 for admission to the permanent... More

This museum houses a large collection of mainly Check Art, but also some floors hold some French and European Art. Names like Klimpt, Monet and others are advertised at the entrance, but most of those artist are represented by a single work. But still, a nice collection and worth the visit.

About a day's worth here! The No 6 tram stops directly outside and the building itself is beautiful. At the time of visiting there is an exhibition by Ai Weiwei which is astounding. Art from 19, 20 and 21st century covered. One of 6 national art galleries in Prague. 600 KC each to enter.

We've been a couple of times in the last few years to see the Slavic Epic and the rest of the exhibitions. It's an amazing space, and yes, it's huge. Don't expect to get around it all in one day if you're even slightly interested in the detail of the exhibits. From current reviews it seems like the Epic has... More

I visited here for the purpose of seeing Mucha' Slav Epic, only to find out that it is gone, out on loan to museums elsewhere. What a disappointment! Since we were already at the museum, we tried to make the best of it, and did see spend an hour wandering the cavernous building. We enjoyed a number of paintings we... More

My girlfriend and I went there during a opend-doors weekend. We were not expecting that much but I must say the museum has a quite nice small collection. It cannot be compared to Paris, London, Vienna or Berlin - or even Dresden - but we liked. We discovered Capek, few pieces by Picasso. The bad points : the building could... More

Not that some of the art isn't interesting, not much of a modern art fan, but it also seems quite typical that you can see in many other national level galleries. A bit cold and industrial inside. Wasn't that interesting after visiting the other galleries in the historical palaces. The gallery is NOT a palace despite the name. Mostly disappointing... More

So, this might be a palace but it looks like an office building. It houses the National Gallery of Modern art. Don't go expecting a palace. But if you buy the national gallery pass, make the trip across the river and check out some modern art. Note:Alfons Mucha Slav Epic has been removed for 2 years to be on display... More

It's a bit outside of downtown Praha, but it's really worth a visit if you like art. Very wide and interesting permanent collection of Czech and international 19-20-21 centuries. Many masterpieces too. 5 floors. Tiring - you need many energies. Not so many chairs and sofas. A lot to read (always English and Czech), no interactive solutions. We have learnt... More
