Culturally, it is important place for Poles. Black Madonna picture is amazing but it is hard to feel its greateness in the crowd. No way you would be able to come close enough to admire the picture. Nevertheless, it is still worth visiting and experiencing the catholic mekka in Poland.

The architecture, frescoes and ornate decorations of this sanctuary is just breath taking & one will quickly realize which this location of part of UNESCO's heritage sites. A site that is very close & dear to the Polish people, a steady stream of pilgrims, tourists and those attending Mass makes the overall location somewhat crowded.

Having visited many churches in my European travels, I would have to say that this one is in my top 10 for most beautiful. The detail work EVERYWHERE is amazing, but most importantly, if you can manage to break you gaze from the stunning altar, turn around. Behind you, you will see one of the most beautiful organs I have... More

Czestochowa Stradom rail station is one and half hours by train from Krakow and then a 5 min taxi ride to Jasna Gora. It's well worth the visit to visit this fantastic basilica which contains the black Madonna and child, arguably the most revered pilgrimage sites for catholics in Poland If you have a spare day's sightseeing and are based... This site refers to what is listed as #2 on the legend of the visitors' center brochure, the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Founding of the Holy Cross. In my view it was the #1 sight of the entire complex but I didn't visit Jasna Gora as a religious pilgrim so I can fully understand... More

The national shrine to Our Lady in Poland is remarkable. It really helped me to understand what it means that the Blessed Mother is titled Queen of Poland. I would absolutely recommend this as a pilgrimage trip and an incredible cultural experience. My time there gave me a sense of being in the heart of Poland.

You really have to see it while in Częstochowa, even if you're not a believer or your god is not the same as this one. I didn't fully understood why the place is so special but it seemed to be kind of a Christian mecca. Very spiritual destination.

The sanctuary is one of the oldest famous of the worship of a painting of Mary and Baby Jesus. The place is historical fro a religion and country history. People believe the painting has a special power to make it work the prayers you bring to God. The archi is amazing and the smell of white lily inside the place.... More
