Most of my family is buried on this cemetery. I go there quite regularly (if only I manage to find the time) to visit my father, my grandma and others. It's the main one in Cracow, you can find graves of many famous Poles there - they are all to be found in one place, therefore it's not a challenge... More

The main cemetery of Krakow, there are many famous Poles buried there. There isn't any super-spectacular tomb, maybe with the exception for Matejko's (the famous Polish painter) tomb. It is a good place for a short walk and reverie.

I visited this amazing cemetery on a hot day and it was a place of cool respite from the heat and crowds of Krakow. The cemetery is huge and has some famous people buried here: Jan Matejko, Tadeusz Pankiewicz, Pope John Paul II’s parents Karol Józef Wojtyła (senior) and Emilia and many others. The gravestones are varied and beautiful with... More

If you want a peaceful place to wander for a few hours, this is it. There are some beautiful graves to visit and some lovely statues. It's a massive place and not very well signposted, but if you can get past that it's a great place for a walk.

Well, we are visiting old cemeteries everywhere we can. This cemetery is for sure worth to visit if you are interested in heritage and past. But, you should be very patient, and you should print-out the plan, better with the graves you want to see directly marked as the only plans there are available at the entrances, there are at... The Rakowicki Cemetery obviously receives a huge amount of TLC and, in some sections, it's almost like a manicured garden, within a park. There's an abundance of fine funerary sculptures and a variety of war memorial monuments. Many of the wide alleyways between tombstones are lined with benches upon which to sit and just experience the setting. The whole place... More

Lovely old cemetery. While not everyone's cup of tea, if you like history and a look into the past this is for you. Very peaceful place to spend a bit of reflective time.

So glad to have visited Kraków during all saints day on the 1st November. We headed down to the cemetery on the tram with everyone else and had a lovely wander around the cemetery in the evening with all the candles on all the graves. It was a lovely atmosphere and a really unique sight. It was a lovely celebration... More

A must see if you are in Krakow on holiday. Very old with interesting statuary. I went on All Souls Day which is a national holiday in Poland. Thousands of people head to the cemeteries to place candles and flowers on the tombs of the departed. Quite beautiful, especially after it got dark. Went by taxi from the Old Town.... More
