This church doesn’t look any different than a standard gothic town church in Poland, although its location close to the River is very pictoresque. The church is fantastic inside though. Gothic architecture with baroque altars and colourful art-nouveau wall-paintings give a unique atmosphere of the...More

The deceptively sober facade hides a big surprise inside: an explosion of bright colors covering every square inch of the walls and roof plus 4 very ornate side altars.

From the outside this cathedral is not very different from any Polish Gothic church but once inside you'll be stunned by the burst of colours, every nook and cranny is painted in bright vibrant hues!

This may not be on Unesco, but it should be. Small, quaint, but marvelously painted with a very unique pallet that is distinctly different from most cathedrals. I think this is a must see.

St. Martin & Nicholas Cathedral is one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Europe. It is by far the most colorful I have seen anywhere. AS it sits in central Poland it has a certain eastern flair that you may recognize from other Russian Orthodox...More

St. Martin and St. Nicholas Cathedral, located adjacent to the town square, is Bydgoszcz's oldest remaining church, with parts of this beautiful church dating back to the middle of the 15th century. This church has a colorful interior. Photographs are permitted.
