Got to hear a chorus singing in this beautiful church in Warsaw's Old Town. It's a strange looking church, but lovely in its own way. It is the mother church of the archdiocese of Warsaw. It was orginally built in the 14th century. It was destroyed in WWII but has been rebuilt. It's worth a visit.

The facade is beautiful and is a landmark that can be seen from afar. The step-wise apex soars heavenwards and it looked wonderful against the early morning blue sky. Destroyed during the Warsaw Uprising it has been marvellously restored. Entering is to be presented with much beauty. Outstanding is the delightful Gothic ceiling with its patterned designs. The full vista... More

St. John's Archcathedral in Warsaw is a Catholic church in Warsaw's Old Town. St. John's is one of three cathedrals in Warsaw and the church has been listed by UNESCO as of cultural significance. Beautiful architecture and stained glass windows.

This rather ugly, plain, brick built church doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside there is some stunning stained glass and very interesting decor to see. There's also a crypt, but there's a cost for visiting, whereas the rest of the church is free.

Nice church in the city centre few steps afar from the castle. One of the most iconic of the city. Interesting more in the outside than in the inside!

Like everything in the old town, this was rebuilt after the war. The stained glass fascinated me as unlike most cathedrals, which date back hundreds of years, this is all post war. The display of military crests by the main door was also interesting.

Of the three cathedrals that are located in Warsaw in my opinion Cathedral Of St John is the most famous and the most beautiful. The cathedral looks amazing with an absolutely fantastic interior with many interesting textures and details and although not as ornately decorated as some of the churches and cathedrals we visited in Krakow earlier in the year... The beautiful St. John's Archcathedral in Warsaw is an old Roman Catholic church in Warsaw's Old Town. It's one of three cathedrals in Warsaw, but the only one which is also an archcathedral. St. John's Archcathedral is one of Poland's national pantheons. It has witnessed many historic events (Weddings, coronations and royal funerals were held here among other things). In... More

The church does not have outdoor space as others but the architecture is outstanding among surrounding buildings in that area.

There are a couple of items inside the church that are very old. Both of these items (wooden cross and a stone carving) were hidden from the Nazis before they could steal them or be leveled. Amazing the resilience of the Polish!
