Overview
More
The Slovene Ethnographic Museum is a museum "about people, for people", a museum of cultural identities, a link between the past and the present, between traditional and modern culture, between our own and other cultures, between the natural environment and civilisation. It is a museum of dialogue, open, active and hospitable, dedicated to serving the public. It presents and reports on traditional culture as well as mass and pop culture in Slovenia and the diaspora, on non-European cultures, and on the material and intangible cultural heritage of both everyday and festive life.

Some interesting stuff, especially the fishing boat and the handmade furniture and home goods. Some displays more about generic things like sterotypes that seemed out of place. Highlight was the display regarding immigration of Slovenians to other parts of the world. It was shocking to...More

Absolutely one of the best museums Ljubljana has to offer. You learn everything you need to know about Slovenian culture and costums, and usually they have an exhibition with world cultures as well.

In Etnographic Museum in Ljubljana until March 2018 you can see an interesting exhibition abouth Afghanistan which will bring you closer to the people and customs of these mysterious lands, which are hardly accessible to tourists.

Yes overall a quite good museum, great info on Slovenia. Strange comments about stereotypes, as the display about Australia (I'm a native) was a complete and rather out-dated stereotype.

This is a really interesting modern museum, with some interactive parts. Student entry was only €2,50 and i spent about 2 hours there. Not everything is in English, but enough is and there are some interesting displays in the floor as well as some quirky...More

You can easily spend a lot of time here, it turned out to be a much bigger museum than I expected. The exhibits hold so much information and all the things they have on display are a sight to see.

Very helpful girl at reception, giving tips on where to start, which direction to go in and the exhibits on each floor. Not only a great insight into Slovenian life and history but also that of Afghanistan.

This museum is a must see (though sadly not at all busy), staff members are very welcoming and informed. The museum is in a large, modern, building, with permanent exhibitions, and an interesting and moving temporary exhibition on migration and Afghanistan. It opens with an...More

We had a couple of hours spare and as this was very close to our hotel we thought we'd pop in. My only disappointment was that we couldn't spend longer there - fascinating museum with great exhibits that have been thoughtfully put together to tell...More
