A mighty medieval fortress, a symbol of the Slovenian capital Ljubljana is an interesting tourist point, the idyllic grounds for long strolls just a glance away from the lively city centre. The Ljubljana castle offers many cultural, historic and entertaining events throughout the year.

The views are better than the castle on this occasion. The walk up to the castle is nice, if not a little steep in places, but it gives you good views of the city, as does being high up in the tower of the castle...More

To be fair, I didn't pay to go into the castle itself, just went up on the train and had a walk round, however there didn't appear to be much up there really. I enjoyed the walk back down however.

You don’t have to walk up as there is the option of the funicular but if you are reasonably fit I would suggest walking . The views at the top are fantastic but we found the museums not really worth visiting, so just go up...More

I would say if you are fit and and its a nice day. Climb up to the castle entrance rather than take the finicular, save some extra € and get some Slovenian fresh air. I personally think the castle is overrated, it is also quite...More

The steps in the tower are quite narrow and steep and camera bugs get fantastic views of the city.. However the castle grounds are quite expansive and good for strolls. Two restaurants, a gift shop, a museum of puppets, and a blacksmith museum are located...More

We decided to walk to the castle, after a good 40 minute walk we arrived exhausted at the entrance. Plenty to see and the tower views are exceptional. Definitely worth the climb, discovered that you could get both up and down on the cable car

The funicular ride up to the castle is included in the entrance fee. The castle has interesting exhibition spaces and the views from the tower are fantastic.

Very nice castle from outside. Inside there isn't really anything interesting to see (in my opinion). You can walk or drive there, its very close to the old city.

We saw castles and palaces in four countries on our trip; we enjoyed this one the most. Take the funicular up and be sure to buy the ticket that allows you up the tower. The walk up the spiral staircase to the top of the...More

There is no parking at the top. The two ways to get up are via walking or taking the funicular railway.

the dogs are allowed on the premises of the castle, but I am not sure about the funicular, you can always walk to the castle, very nice track
