Very interesting collection of almost 600 artworks. There are three highlights: Gothic, Baroque and Modernism.

It is nice to see small permanent collection of paintings and some prints, all work of Zoran Mušič (famous painter who worlked in Venice and Paris). Exhibition is in ground floor of the old building. You can simply walk around in an hour or even less. For all the people from Štajerska region; one of the biigest paintings is a... More

The National Gallery of Slovenia is within walking distance of Old Town and Preseren Square, perhaps a 15-20 minutes walk. I love museums and found this one particularly appealing for its focus on Slovenian artists. The Neoclassical structure with its grand foyer and stairway has a more modern structure attached at the back. It's like seeing two museums in one.... More

Spacious layout of classic paintings, mostly by local artists. The cafe is a nice place to be at, light music playing with large ancient water fountain as decoration in a modern backdrop.

A good range of works obviously focused mainly on early works but did have some interesting modern pieces.

We spend a very nice afternoon in the National Gallery. We were impressed of the good Slovene painters and also we appreciated the Vugrinec Collection Croatian Modern Art, also impressive Admission 7 or 10 € depending what you would like to see, and we paid for "pensioner" only 6 €, very nice price.

The building is very impressive and unusual in Ljubljana. Some of the art works were nicely representing Slovenian art, but other than that not much to see. We expected for more.

The whole thing is very chic and pretty and the art displayed very good. It collects the best works from all of the best Slovenian painters (and they were pretty good!). Now they also added a great coffee/dessert shop at the end of it for a nice refreshment before heading out to explore some more of the city.

In many ways it is a typical Western European gallery and all the usual suspects are there. Portraits, religious paintings, landscapes, genre pictures and the rest, but look a little more closely and they are often a tad disappointing. Some of the early ones are modern copies, while some of the statues are casts. Unless you are a really serious... More

It is a museum with an old part - beautiful staircase and an addition, very modern, but fits exactly to the old part. There are some excellent art works, specially the four great sloven impressionist painter works are remarkable. A must visit.
