Predjama Castle is situated in the middle of a towering cliff, a mere 9 km from Postojna Cave. Picturesque, magnificent, defiant, mysterious and impregnable, it has been dominating the surrounding area, perched high up in the 123-metre high cliff, for more than 800 years. It is listed among the Guinness World Records as the largest cave castle in the world. Check the timetable of visits by months.

This castle is over 800 years old, its in the cliffs halfway up the hillside. You can stop and take pictures or do a full tour of the Castle inside both are amazing. At the entrance is a gift shop and café where you can...More

This castle is so impressive in person. There is a self guided audio tour, which is average at best. The castle itself has been preserved as it was in medieval times, with medieval artifact all over. This was a war castle, not a princess one!...More

Before our trip, the word here was that the castle was great to visit for the views (both of the castle, and the surrounding countryside), but that the castle interior wasn't worth the time. We followed that advice, and had a wonderful 30 minute stop...More

Dear guest, we understand your decision to take a view to the Predjama Castle just from the outside, but we do not understand that you are able to comment that its interior is not worth visiting. The rating of the service is not based on...More

It was a nice castle to visit. The visit inside was a bit cheesy. They had the room set up with props and some figures. It was a bit corny but the highlight was the climb up to the top where the castle spills into...More

Very cool castle that I would recommend visiting if you are doing some of the caves in the area. It has a fantastic setting and an interesting history. Definitely worth a visit if in the area.

This is a unique attraction because it is a castle... in a cave!!! However, other than being picturesque it is not that exciting past that. There are some exhibits in several rooms that illustrate life inside the castle. You also get to see the inside...More

My time here at Predjama Castle was time well spent! This place was FANTASTIC! I haven't seen anything like this before as this castle is built right into the side of a mountain! The castle incorporated the caves that are inside this mountain. I was...More

Predjama Castle was the highlight of my Slovenian trip. Beautiful, atypical, mysterious and full of surprises that will trigger your curiosity. Make sure you carefully listen to the audio guide - it isn’t boring like other castles and you actually learn a lot. STUNNING!

This stunning castle dating back to the 1100s, was a unique find. I went with a guided tour and we got to see various parts of the castle and into the cave that it is built into. Truly a rare opportunity! Would recommend !

Nope, will be easier without the push chair.. very steep stairs at some places. I would say take the audio guide for the interesting stories / information for each place.

Hi, we are doing a day trip from Ljubljana, and want to do the Postonja Caves, Predjama Castle, and Piran. I know we can get a combo ticket for the caves and castle. I was thinking we could get an early start from Ljubljana and hit either the caves or the castle on the way down to Piran, then lunch in Piran, and hit the caves or the castle on the way back to Llubljana (whichever one we didn't see on the way down). Is this too much for one day? How long does it take to tour the castle? Is it guided or self-tour? It looks like the caves take about 2.5 hours, leaving every hour. Any advice about when the caves are most crowded? If we do as described above, would it be better to see the caves in the morning and castle in the afternoon or the other way around? thank you so much for any thoughts on this!
