We were a group of six girls on New Years Eve going for wine tasting. The location is just great, and the atmosphere down in the wine cellar is pretty unique. There are not room for that many guests at the same time, which adds up to the unique atmosphere. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Although, it was... More

This is a great place to visit. It is very atmospheric in the cellar caves below the Hilton Buda. The owner is a true enthusiast of Hungarian wines. He knows the wine producers personally and is brilliantly knowledgeable. His passion is just so evident during your visit. Allow plenty of time - 9 wines and the helpings are nice an... More

We had seen this recommended on Trip Advisor so pre booked. It is in the cellar in the catacombs (under the Hilton hotel) - very quaint (the cellar). We chose the Hungarian package and it was fantastic to sample a wide selection of the local wines. I have to say the wine in Hungary constantly surprised us - amazing quality... More

Do not miss the Faust Wine Cellar in the Dominican Cloisters in the deep, dark basement of the Hilton Hotel on Castle Hill. As well as a series of excellent Hungarian wines the setting in the cloisters in uniquely medieval. The husband and wife team are friendly, knowledgeable, and speak fluent English. They quickly make one feel a part of... More

Went to the Faust wine cellar yesterday and we have said it's the highlight of our trip and we still have 2 days left. It was a lovely way to finish the day off. Very knowledgeable and you get to try some really exclusive wines. We heard that you had to book but we walked in and asked and they... More

We went to Faust as a group of 6 for wine tasting. You need to book in advance and they only take cash as payment. We found the staff pleasant and very knowledgeable. The setting quite special as it's very unusual. We enjoyed trying a variety of Hungarian wines and it was interesting learning how the flavours can be changed... More

Wonderful experience in a very atmospheric setting. The wine tasting is in cellars and is approached via a few flights of stairs below the Hilton hotel. The host was extremely knowledgeable and led the wine tasting experience at a relaxed rate with a good measure of humour! The measures were generous and we were guided through a good selection of wines.... More

Can't recommend this enough. We had a fantastic evening. The location under the hotel in the cave is amazing. Very cosy and romantic. The staff there are great - very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. We hadn't done any wine tasting before but they cater for everyone. We selected the 9 wine mix package which I would do again.... More

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
