What a breath taking beauty

This just next to the Matthias Church n this cluster of attraction is an unexpected little town on its own, way above the madding crowd. It's a beauty n a must see place.

Skip paying to go up top for the view. Stay downstairs to the far left and you get the same view for free. At the same location in St Michael's Chapel is a 3D history showing. Excellent!

It is the most beautiful vantage point in Budapest. Prepare to face huge crowds to take photos. You can also go up by funicular.

Visit to Fisherman's Bastions is a must. The view from up there towards the city, especially the Parliament opposite, is breathtaking. A visit when the sun is setting gives it an extra wonderful feeling.

We were stunned by this "lookout' atop a tall hill on the Buda side of the city. It reminded me of a castle. Tourists were everywhere because there were stunning views of the city from many angles, almost panoramic. I don't know the stones used in the construction of this site, but it is pale in color, perhaps sandstone, and... More

Went here on a night walk. The view over the Danube was fantastic! There is a church next to it with a lovely tiled roof.

The view was panoramic, but in my opinion it is unnacceptable that you have to pay to see the view and visit the Matyas church.

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
