The Vorosmarty Square Christmas market was not what I expected: cramped, comprising largely of food and drink stalls, and a few handicraft stalls. I much prefer the other Christmas market that’s nearby; outside the St Stephen’s Basilica

On the morning of December 31, I went to Vörösmarty Square in the vain hope that the Christmas fair is over already. But the merchants and the public thought differently. When I got off the Millennium Metro, I could see what is waiting for me....More

Visiting Budapest in November meant there was loads of Christmas markets to look/shop around. There was a beautiful market at Vorosmarty Square (easily accessible by the metro). The market was buzzing with Christmas cheer and Hungarian souvenirs. Shops around the square were also amazing for...More

Very pictureseque traditional and flavourful Christmas market, right on the onset of Budapest's most commercial street, Vaci utka.

I came down to see the Christmas market and the square was packed- but it is always a popular place for tourist and locals. Tourist gawk and snap selfies in front of the beautiful architecture and monuments, locals stroll with their families and try not...More

I think there were between 60 and 80 stalls, they’re many stalls selling the same thing and if you walk up the street you will find all the shops selling the same stuff. Very Christmassy and a good atmosphere, some of the things for sale there...More

Gorgeous area particularly the Christmas market, albeit you couldn't afford to shop at it! The street leading away from called Deak Ferenc is beautifully lit for Christmas

While on a Viking Danube River cruise, we visited several Christmas Markets in Germany, Austria and Hungary. In our opinion, this was the most interesting. Not only is it large, but it had a wide variety of food vendors and even a traditional blacksmith making...More

Good atmosphere with live Christmas music from the corner. Colourful decorations all around and also projected colour on a large building. Many stalls of crafts and food with the centre food stalls all raised a level making this easy to enjoy yourself and move around....More

District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube,
with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The
Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica
stand out as two of the finest examples of
architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for
more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval
city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while
the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention
