The day after the 2016 Budapest marathon I turned up in the early morning without having booked in advance yet was fortunate to arrange a sports massage (also known as a deep massage, this is painful digging into sore muscles and a world away from a sensual light massage with candles and soothing music.) Cost was 12000 FOR for 50... More

Bathe in 40 degree heat... The layout needs a bit of prereading to get the most out of this experience. Don't forget your bathing cap/or buy, if you want a proper swim. Don't do as I did and grab the metal part of the door handle when you leave the hottest sauna! A wonderful place, especially for fans of Art... More

This is exactly what it says it is. It is a natural spa which is over priced and still very busy. Not somewhere I would go to relax.

You must try this, best way to relax after a busy week. Remember to take your own towel and flip flops but you can buy items in there shop, have free hair dryers to.

We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon at the spa baths. Started with a swim and tried the 4 indoor thermal baths and ended in the outdoor thermal bath which was lovely even though it was -1C outside! We felt so refreshed and relaxed after our visit. I would advise visitors to bring an extra towel with them as your main towel... More

Collection of hot baths - about 4-5 indoor and 1 outdoor (in the winter - another outdoor one open in summer I believe) - and steam room and sauna. Entrance costs around 5300 HUF on weekdays. It is a bit of a maze - and quite confusing where you go to get changed / lockers etc - but they have... More

It is a very nice spa but they don't have a lot of pools, only 1 outdoor and 3 indoor thermal pools and one swimming pool , so it is kind of expensive for what you get. You can hear that a lot of people are tourists so not the best if you want to the authentic local experience. The... More

We loved Gellert Spa. It was the perfect retreat from the freezing temperatures outside in mid-February. Entering, changing and navigating our way round proved to be quite difficult but once we were in it was amazing. We rented towels but wished we had gotten slippers and robes instead. We tried out all of the thermal baths and even ventured outside,... More

Staying in Gellert Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Gellert Hill
If you want to treat your camera to some amazing scenery, Gellért Hill is a must on your itinerary. A funicular journey from the Chain Bridge along the hillsides provides a fast connection between Buda and Pest, hoisting visitors to panoramic vistas. Once on top of the hill, you’ll find the Citadel dominate the landscape with its imposing 19th century construction, a site that’s hard to keep your eyes on without being distracted by the phenomenal view over the Danube and the eight bridges crossing. Once on Gellért Hill however, one mustn’t miss the famous Gellért Baths. Budapest is renown for its thermal waters and its baths, and the Gellért Baths are housed in an impressive art nouveau structure. Its interior design, with its many mosaics, recalls the preceding relationships the city has had with healing springs and saunas, traditionally used within this neighborhood since the Ottoman Empire.
