Hats off to Private Ernő Nemecsek

Found this by accident while skating around. Nothing overly exciting but a good glimpse at what things used to be like before YouTube and iPads.

I have read Paul Street Boys when I was at 6th grade. It was a really moving experience to re-read the book while walking the streets the boys played on. The monument, a little hard to find, is the treasure to top it all. I just put my bag next to theirs and took a moment to watch the game.... More

These statues seem to be living. That's why they should be appreciated by everyone. Unfortunately, they are rather far away from the city center. That's why you could combine the visit with the holocaust museum (very close) and on the way back to the center, you could have a drink at the New York cafe which deserves a coffee /... More

After finding the statues, I now want to read the book - but, alas, it is not available on my Kindle! I will continue looking for the book to hopefully gain a better understanding of the Hungarian people.

I have read the book of the "boys of pal street" , so where is the group of statues is not far from the road named after them, well kept, near Corvin metro station and commercial center. This corner is kept as in the old days, around schools, atmosphere.

This is a collection of bronze statues tucked out of the way. I learned that it is a depiction of an old Hungarian story. I wished that I knew it better when I first saw it. It is between the Corvin Shopping Centre and the Bo18 Hotel in the Pest side of the city.

Unless you grew up in Hungary and read this childhood classic, it is very difficult to appreciate and understand the significance of this attraction. But if you read the book (I don't think it has been translated into any other languages) it is an absolute must to see and experience. - Supposedly this is the area where the fictional story... The Paul Street Boys - if you haven't read it yet, I think you should. This statue shows you the scene when the two Pásztors, from the Red Shirt group, takes away the toys of the peacefuly playing Paul Street Boys. ( This act was called 'doing an "einstand"'.) And this was why Boka, the leader of the Paul street... More

It was an early morning visit to avoid the crowds. It's larger than life depiction of young boys who are playful and full of life. Meritorious creation. The place can easily be found around a residential block in Budapest.
