If you like sculptures, visit the Varga Museum. It is small, but jammed with pieces and you will receive a personal tour of the grounds. Inexpensive, interesting and intelligent.

This little museum is easy to get to and is just the right size to appreciate the talent of Imre Varga. About 3 rooms and a sweet garden with many of his statues or the casts of them. There are some photos showing some of the statues in their setting, and of the artist. Photos don't reveal how skillfully Varga... More

This is Budapest's best kept secret! The gallery isn't the easiest to find, being situated a little out of the centre and away from the usual tourist trail, but it is well worth making the effort to get to it.(The public bus stops nearby). The many sculptures are simply stunning. I've seldom seen so many outstanding works gathered together. The only... More

I really loved this small, charming museum. I did not know the artist beforehand and ended up in Obuda to see Vasarelly, but red about Vargas on Tripadvisor and decided to pop by. The statues were beautiful and very varied. Some were of famous people, and some were of mythological figures - and some were abstracts. Both small ones and... More

You should definitely travel to Obuda, the oldest part of Buda, that is the old part of Budapest, to see the work of this man. There are some statues here and there. It's just beautiful to see them popping out like that between old buildings where you expect to find nothing

Hungarians love their sculptures, they are all over the place. Have you seen the Holocaust memorial in the huge Synagogues grounds or that of Wallenberg? Imre Varga was responsible for both. Take a suburban train to see his collection in OBUDA, about 10 minutes from the city. Both indoor and outdoor, the ladies with their umbrellas stand a short distance... More

Spending a half day walking around Old Buda, one appreciates the tranquility of this area. I imagine times were busier here, but it was nice to sit and relax in the beauty of the details. The monuments are put together well and it was fun to look for them all. Not much signage, but who wants to read about a... More

It's well worth the trip to Obuda to see this gallery. While it would be useful to have more information about the people displayed, the charm of the work overcomes these worries. After a short time here you'll realise that you have seen some of Varga's work around the city of Budapest.
