Albeit a little expensive, the funicular is definitely the way to get up the hill for those of us with injuries we are nursing. It is only about a 3minute ride but it saves a lot of time and many uphill switchbacks to make it...More

We were in the long queue (approx 40 mins waiting time) in 38 degrees heat as thought this was the only way up to the castle. A rep guy approached us and told us about his company's little electric cars that can take you up...More

This 19th century funicular offers a quick and easy option to climb Castle Hill, it travels between Clark Adams Square and the Buda Castle every five to ten minutes. The funicular first commenced operation in 1870, unfortunately it was destroyed during WW2 but replicated and...More

Like everyone said here: it's an expensive ride for such a short period. But having said that, you can't miss this ride while you are in Budapest. It's like going to San Francisco and not experiencing the cable car! Some tips: 1. There will be...More

...it's expensive for a 3 minute journey. But we were first on our car so got some fabulous shots across the chain bridge and into Pest. I can see how if you were late getting into a car it'd be quite disappointing. Having enjoyed similar...More

This is one of several options to get from street level to Castle Hill / Palace Area. The railway is good to try, but it's not cheap and there were big queues... Tip - You can buy 1-way and 2-way tickets. Get up the top...More

It's quite expensive considering how quickly it is over but on a hot day is worth it! Takes you straight to the Castle for nice views of Budapest

expensive for what it is , only a practical way to get up in a hot day, otherwise no special views nor atmosphere and price quite steep as well

I've been in quite a few funiculars around the globe and this is the shortest one , over in 3min. And quite difficult to take pictures during the 3min. Probably take a nice stroll up and save the $. You can even avoid the rudeness...More

Yes, you can take the bus or walk but it was fun even on a very hot day to take the funicular up the hill, it's certainly not something I for one do every day! The cabins were very hot given the hot temperatures but...More

I think the price worked out about £4 per person for a very short (approx 3 mins) ride. Yes it takes you you up and down the hill to Buda Castle area. Be aware that the castle itself was obliterated in the last war and is... More

The walk uphill, slope with staircase, is around 15 minutes excluding photo-taking time. It is a gentle walk unless you are in a hurry.
