Nice, relaxed art cinema

Art cinema as it should be... relaxed and entertaining. Small rooms, small screens, good films and many in original language. Downtown and worth visiting.

The creative decor and friendly staff, as well as, the smaller quaint screens make this one of my favorite Budapest cinemas. The films that are shown here are also generally very nicely done. We recently watched a couple of Hungarian-made films (with English subtitles for me), which were fantastic and made all the better by the personal feel of this... More

As I was travelling solo I popped in to watch an Hungarian film with English subtitles. The cinema was very nice and chilled out, the staff spoke English and the prices were reasonable.

We (a couple) visited this cinema during a film festival, and we were very impressed by it! It has very nice "art-kitschy" decorations and many film posters. There are five screening rooms, which is quite a lot for an art cinema! The prices of the bufe are reasonable. For example, a small size popcorn costs 1 euro. The screening room... More

Great small art cinema with book store and cafe inside. They show movies you probably missed 5 years ago... or before. Do not expect 3D HD, it is not about that.

Not sure about art house and pretentious films. Went to see 7 Psychopaths tonight. A violent mainstream film. They were also showing other mainstream English films. The guy at the desk and the girl taking the tickets both spoke English.

This is a place, where the Budapest intellectuals go to watch a movie. Its atmosphere and the films showing here are just different from any other movie theaters.

It's not the place for romcoms and actions, it's sophisticated, sometimes pretentious... brave, artistic.

Muvesz is a very sall and cozy cinema, where you can watch lots of filmsfrom different countries and in origina version. You can also do some shopping befre or after the movie since they sell beautiful (and cheap) hand-made jewellery.
