We visited this modern opera house near the river Danube and a busy shopping centre Eurovea, near the town centre, to see the opera La Traviata by Verdi. The building itself is amazing, in the front a fountain and plenty pictures and costumes inside. There is a good restaurant too. The performance itself (on 23rd Nov 2016) was wonderful and... More

We saw this at the historic building but it will be shown in the new theatre from now on. The performance was delightful. The corps de ballet were perfectly sychronised and technically excellent. Rudenko was fabulous as Giselle. Myrtha, played by Najdena, magnificient. The second Act was haunting and atmospheric in contrast to the bright and beautiful first half. The... More

We saw the premiere of Giselle yesterday at the Historic National Theatre. It was absolutely brilliant. Wonderful corps de ballet and performances by Maria Rudenko as Gisele and S. Najdena as Myrtha. As good as you would see anywhere in the world and amazingly 20 euros for the best seats. A fantastic experience.

It is a very beautiful piece of architecture.Used to be known as Reduta Palace or Concert Hall. While on a walking tour or exploring the old town you are bound to see this building. One cannot miss its imposing facade.

If you have a possibility, go for a ballet to the old, historical building. It's beautiful from inside.

With my family and friends we come regularly to see various plays, mostly drama and opera. It's always a spectacle. I also greatly approve the option to buy the last minute tickets, which saved our night last time. I can only recommend Silvester or New Year's Eve plays, which are most often comedies, comic operetas (e.g. Die Fledermaus) or a... More

Beautiful old building from the outside and inside it's even better. We've attended opera Nabucco. Staff was very helpful and nice, when you enter the building you can feel the history in the walls. The opera was also amazing, even though we've had the worst ticket and couldn't see much, it was worth it. The atmosphere, the orchestra and the... More

THE SLOVAK NATIONAL THEATRE is a beautiful theatre in one of the most famous and attractive squares in Bratislava. We were in this lovely city over the Christmas period and the big Christmas market was layed out in front of it. As we were staying in the Radisson Blu Carlton Hotel the view from our 6th floor room was stunning.... More

We had a wonderful evening at the old National Theatre. Enjoyed a fun, silly (aren't they all?) opera in a beautiful room.

This imposing theater fronts the end of a tree-lined boulevard known as Hviezdoslavovo namestie. It is the oldest Slovak professional theater to include ballet, opera and drama. The neo-Renaissance yellow building was built between 1885-1886, when Slovakia was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It is still used for its original purpose; that is, it is home to the finest opera... More
