Well worth a visit to this remnant of old Kaunas. It is surprising on learning its history that anything exists. Stroll around and enjoy a coffee !

Wandered through the old town in the evening on the way to a restaurant. It is a beautiful place where you can feel the history and spot some very sympathetic renovation. I hear that it is much more buzzy in the summer, but I liked the peace myself. Some little shops, restaurants and bars, with a friendly feeling and no... More

Kaunas isn't a big city, but it has his beauty in summer and winter. In winter it's quiet and peaceful and in summer it's filled with people and there is much to see around the old town.

We spent an afternoon wandering through the old town and thought it was really beautiful. Lots of lovely buildings in a variety of architectural styles, and plenty of cafes along the way to warm up and escape the weather. We hadn't heard much about Kaunas previously, but the old town really merits a visit, and would probably be even lovelier... More

It felt like Kaunas started taking off and then stopped. Very quiet, not a lot going on sad to say. However it's March so maybe it gets busier towards the summer.

I enjoyed wandering through the historic centre of Kaunas, with its old German-style buildings and grand religious buildings. However, relative to similar places, it lacked the coziness of Tallinn, the architectural splendour of Riga or the buzz of Vilnius. Definitely worth a visit in conjunction with other sites around the city, but don't visit just for this.

A beautiful place to walk and take it all in. Beautifully kept, park areas abound in Lithuania, the towns all had lots of little parks, to sit and rest then on to the next. The architecture throughout was amazing, we got a tour of every nook with our wonderful tour guide, she had her agenda but we also had leeway... More
