Modern and interesting museum in a very unexpected place. There is a lot of interesting stuff inside, history facts from medieval ages till now, also interesting stuff that was took away from smugglers. I highly recommend to arrange a tour with a guide, You probably should do that in advance. Unfortunately, I heard that this museum soon can be closed... More

We got up early & took a taxi there as it's 6km out of the main town- only to be told it was closed that day! I was annoyed as I'd checked on the website in advance & there was nothing saying it wasn't open during the normal advertised hours. I'd been really excited about this museum but clearly wasn't... A very interesting and well put together museum, lots to see and interact with. The area about the Mendininkai massacre of 1991 when the Soviets murdered officers from the newly... More

Never thought that this museum would be that good. I thought that the topic will be boring, but no sir! Museum is interactive, you can watch a movie, read, explore cabinets (because every one of them has a secret). My favorite exhibition was about smuggling (what was smuggled earlier and now). Museum is FREE. The only minus - museum is... More

Visiting this museum was arranged by Lithuanian hosts and when I saw it on schedule I thought - Oh no! This will be like other government museums, marching us from photo to phot with an endless story for each. No so with the Museum of the Customs Service of Lithuania. The mueseum layout is modern - designers used wooden crates,... More
