I had less than an hour, which was not long enough for all the beautiful religious objects in this lovely museum. The desk staff were very friendly. Most of the collection is on the ground floor, but they encouraged me to go upstairs even though it was nearly closing time. They just wanted to make sure I saw everything. Got... More

This church is stunning. It looks the most Russian to me with the onion domes. Definitely stop in to take a look and step out so you can take some pictures outside as well.

• Just off Pilies st. is St Michael’s church which houses the Church Heritage Museum where the Treasury of Vilnius Cathedral can be seen. A fascinating museum of religious artefacts through the centuries. This is part of the 3 sites tour with the Bell Tower and the Cathedral crypt. Buy a ticket for 3 to save the entrance fee.

If my information is correct, this is the only renaissance church in Vilnius. After restaurantion this church was first a museum of architecture, but now it is the Church Heritage Museum (including the treasury of Vilnius cathedral), which costs about 5€.

The church contains art and vestments from the churches throughout Lithuania and has some truly wonderful mediaeval statues including carved wooden figures of German, Moslem and Jewish men beside the usual christian iconography. Of interest is the story of the group finding the "lost" gold and silver treasures hidden from the Nazis and then "hiding" it the from the Russians

This church houses the Church Heritage Museum - a beautiful collection of religious artefacts, many from Vilnius Cathedral. Liturgical vessels (chalices, monstrances) and reliquaries made of precious metals and jewels. Everything is displayed perfectly in well-lit display cases at eye-level. The entrance ticket includes a free audio-guide, which is full of detail and certainly enhances the experience. You can borrow... More

St. Michael's is now the Church Heritage Museum. Anyone who is interested in religious art and artifacts will find this collection fascinating for its textiles and gold work. Hopefully the temporary exhibition on restoration of paintings of the Madonna will still be there for you to see. BTW - this is part of a tour package called Belfry, Crypts, Treasury.

St.Michael's church is located in Vilnius old town neat St. Anna's church. It was build as a catholic church and as a mousoleum of one of the richest Lithuanian families - Sapiega. Unfortunately, during the Soviet times, the church was distroyed and a lot of things was stolen. Anyway, now the church is reconstructed and opened as church heritage museum.... More
