We wanted to visit but were told by our guide that it is closed due to erosion and could be for a month or so - check before setting off to take the trip to the top

You should take a cable instead of walking to the top of the hill. So, you can enjoy the view widely. It is also good for those who doesn't have much time to stay in Vilnius. Just go up there, you will see the scenery of Vilnius. It is a good place for those who love to take a photo.

Located on the north side of the city, there is a lone tower ( Gediminas) sitting on top of it. This hill is surrounded by a stream on the east, Arsenal museum on the north, National Museum on the west & The Palace Of Grand Dukes of Lithuania on the south west.

We enjoyed the steep (but not too long/arduous) walk up to the top and the spectacular views from up there on a beautiful sunny day. Definitely worth a visit.

This is a short walk uphill to enjoy some beautiful panaromaic view of Old Town Vilnius. I happened to be here to watch the sunset and can't express enough how truly beautiful it was, and in my opinion has to be one of the best times of day to be here. Definitely make the climb and don't miss these incredible... More

A short uphill walk from the centre, not far from Cathedral Square, and you're in a great position to view the city. There's a funicular but it wasn't running so can't comment on that other than to day it's not necessary for anyone of reasonably normal health and fitness. My main tip would be to consider the weather. If it's... More

Castle hill dominates the Vilnius old town. It's a steep hill offering fantastic city views of the entire area, better than the Three Cross hill and than any tower in the city. And all that for free. You can climb it on a steep pathway (around 10 to 15 min) or pay a funicular up to the top.

Skip the venicular unless you are mobility impaired. Really not necessary for this 5-10 minute walk uphill on a very small incline. Great (free) view of the old town, hill of three crosses, and modern Vilnius. Skip the tower. 5 euro entry fee just for a slightly higher view. The "museum" is not worth the price of entry Path is... One part of the castle complex, which was built on a hilltop, is known as the Upper Castle. The hill on which it is built is known as Gediminas Hill, about 40 meters (44 yards) in height and around 160 meters (170 yards) in length
