Come and visit one of the oldest Botanical Gardens in the world (founded in 1803). The Botanical Gardens were designed under the supervision of world-famous botanists, Prof Ledebour and Prof Bunge. The Botanical Gardens currently belong to the University of Tartu and they are used as a study base for students. The Botanical Gardens introduce new decorative plans and different methods of landscaping.Interesting facts:- there are 6500 species of plants from all climatic belts of the world in the Botanical Gardens, which makes it the most species-rich area in Estonia;- the palm house of the Botanical Gardens is the biggest in the Baltic States and also the richest in species.

Nice place with different plants to visit for free. Open from morning to late evening. Inside for pay, and outside for free exhibition of different plants are presented. No dislikes.

I usally avoid botanical gardens because I am no scientist when it comes to plants. But this is a lovely place to have a stroll and consider the amount of work someone else has had to do. It is really nice.

An enormous variety of plants, arranged with respect to the depressions and hills of the territory. Obviously designed by gifted and dedicated gardeners. In particular the backside around the pond charms the visitor, even if he is not interested in botanics.

It was a cool cloudy day, but the outdoor gardens were beautiful, and the botanical garden is nearby and easy to find.

It is worth spending hald a day there. Entrance is free except if you want to enter the green houses. Beginning of July it was a delight for our eyes. However the roses were not yet open.

Although the garden is not very big by its territory, it is very compact - each inch is very masterfully planned, different landscapes demonstrated and it is very rich by plants. It is the most beautiful during late spring early summer but one can go...More
