Unveiled on Kuuni Street in Tartu on Child Protection Day on 1 June 2004, this bronze sculpture by Ulo Oun (1944-1988) is said by his widow Inara Oun to portray the sculptor himself with a child taking after their son Kristjan at the age of 18 months. The sculpture was created in 1977 before being cast in bronze in 1987. It was originally designed to be erected in Tallinn, but Tartu City Government bought the sculpture in autumn 2001.

The father and son statue is very ugly and hideous thing standing almost in the middle of the busy street. Luckily the surroundings are nicer now than they were before, so it is quite easy to miss.

Somehow humoristic and very realistic figures in the park. You are bound to stop and admire the way how the realism is captured in these figures

The statue was originally intended to be placed in Tallinn. However, in 2001 it was purchased by the Tartu city council and on Child Protection Day on 1 June 2004, it was unveiled on the main promenade Küüni Street. The statue depicts a toddler-aged son...More

Worth seeing when in Tart, in the middle of the city, can't miss it! Close to Kaubamaja shopping centre.

Very weird sculpture on the main promenade of Tartu. Just a sculpture of naked man and a baby. That all would be fine but dimensions of the baby is unproportional. I just don't understand what's that hidden point behind it all? Is there anything we...More

Hard to miss this quirky but interesting status on Tartu's main walking street. It is worth a photo and several minutes of your time while walking around town.

Dead easy to find and very amusing even if the son looks a bit big. Shiny penises betray tourist handling

Just good to pass sit as it is near you way when you go from Kaubamaja to go to see Town Hall. This is the same level when you walk, so you can take the picture with this statue when you like.

Statues in public places are boring more often than not, this is a refreshing exception. A simple idea executed in a straight forward manner, yet a very memorable one.

This is a lesson about human body, you can explain to the children, how the proportions of the body are changing by age. But read the story yourself before.
