Travelling to Jurmala from Riga is easy especially by train. We travelled from Riga central station to Jurmala Majori station in July 2017. Travel time is only about 30 min. You can by the ticket from the railway station. In July 2017 all trains to...More

Jurmala beach is very different to Palanga beach, which is in neighboring Lithuania. In Jurmala you will not see real waves and also there are no dunes. However the beach is wide and sea is shallow and safe for children.

We only visited Jurmala on a day trip from Riga, but were very impressed by the beach. For those like us who just want to stroll, there is a boardwalk on the sand at the back edge of the beach, partly shaded and even lit...More

Visited with my kids while on holiday. Jurmala beach has a very shallow shelf so when the tide is low you can walk a long way before the water is up to your knees. The sand is well maintained and clean so great for kids...More

Summer in Jurmala is a feast for the senses and a world of fun for the kids. Good old fashioned 'playgrounds' on the beach with a 'fair' feel as well as swings, volleyball and of course the pristine sand and water. Adults can laze or...More

It was easy and cheap to get from Riga to Jurmala with the train, to a nice clean beach to relax on and and walk along for the afternoon/evening.

Good beach with small children, safe. You have to walk far to be able to swim. Peaceful and pleasant, pretty clean. Few restaurants/bars on the beach.

We went to Jurmala by train to try the beach, who used to be the Russian Tsar's seaside resort. Running 30 km long, it should be beach space for everyone. Almost otherworldly, with forest growing by the beach. Our few metres were clean and nice....More

This beach is extremely long and the nicest part of it is the pine trees located on the back of it. The rest is not that nice - we didn't see any umbrellas and benches to rent , only couple of cafes , not really...More

Beach is beautiful and all that but whats best is that everything that you might need is there. - Store near the main entrance - Toilets everywhere (like 200m apart), cost 0,25cent but who cares, the toilets are clean and managed - Activities for children...More
