This museum is totally worth the visit if you are in Riga. Its free, and pretty big!! Lockers are free, as you are unable to enter with coats and bags. This museum allows you to follow the life of war in and around Latvia, and Latvian soldiers from the past to the present.

Is spread over 5 stories, but only a small part has hard bedded English with the exhibits. Rest has English exhibit manuals in the display that are very comprehensive. Allow at least 2 hours and try and find the Australian military uniforms in the displays.

The museum is big and has many exhibitions, most of them in Latvian only (besides small guidebooks in English). Very little information is dedicated to Holocaust. If the museum hadn't been free, I would have regretted going.

This FREE museum is spread over 4 or 5 floors and much of it is in English with hand books to read on your visit. Lots of interesting exhibits from the German invasion then the Russians - such a lot of history in Latvia.

The plan was to visit this museum very quickly ... But obviously we failed at doing that. As stated by previous comments sometimes the english translations are missing but they try to solve this by having translated folders in the beginning of each rooms Definitely a recommendation from my side!

Interesting museum showing Latvias military history from Viking times to the modern era.Lots of exhibits particularly showing the period from the First World War to the end of the Second World war.Latvia really does have a fascinating history including being invaded once by Germany and twice by Russia in the space of 4 years! My only minor issue as an English... The museum is free to visit and has 4 stores full of exhibits. There are some videos, interactive games and if you are interested and pay attention you can really lose the track of time. We were in a bit of hurry, so we spent there about an hour, but we could have been there way longer.

Great museum. A lot of the exhibits. The visitor can get a good overview of the history of Latvia and the fight for freedom.

This museum, which is located next to the Powder Tower, provide you with the war history of the country. Some of the exhibits and history could be found before the entrance of the building.

This place is well worth visiting on a trip to Riga. Entry is free and although I expected it be a brief flying visit we found ourselves absorbed fully for a couple of hours - and could have stayed longer. In particular the 1st World War section on the 2nd floor was outstanding. They have done a wonderful job bringing... More
