Worth a visit but it's work in progress

Easy to get to via Tram #11 from Stacijas laukums. Mežaparks is the destination. Takes about 20 minutes and the Zoo entrance is across the street. We visited in April, which is... read more

We have visited zoo in April, it was cold and we were not able to see all animals as they didn't go out. We didn't see lion and tiger and white bear. But all other animals were open to visit outside or inside pavilions. It's really worth to visit. Our 3 years old daughter liked the zoo very much! Feeding... More

Easy to get to via Tram #11 from Stacijas laukums. Mežaparks is the destination. Takes about 20 minutes and the Zoo entrance is across the street. We visited in April, which is not the best time to open as not all the facilities are open (some are) and of course the fauna is quite drab. But that is hardly the... More

Very fine zoo. A lot of exotic species, the tropical garden is one of the best in Europe. If you like zoos, this one is definitely worth visiting

Riga Zoo is placed in a beautiful place - Mezapark. So you can visit Zoo and after this walk in Mezapark sqare. Rigas Zoo is not so big, like Zoo in Berlin and other big cities, but it's really good and beautiful. Good idea to visit it especially when sun is shine.

Visiting the zoo took place on a sunny summer day, according to this the mood was lux. Some of the cages were under repair, but overall we liked everything. On the territory there is a special very beautiful place for barbecue, so this is very inspiring. I recommend for family, companies, groups of tourists.

My first visit there was at end of 70ties. I keep on visiting it every time I return to Riga with my kid and we both enjoy it. With very limited budget they managed to do good job in maintaining and developing collection of animals. Over the years locations of some animal expositions changed, now you can see Baltic seals...
