very special architecture

Really cool details of the jugenstyle buildings - dragons, mythical creatures, etc. Something from Barocco, rococo styles

Wonder through the streets, get lost and look around. You will be amazed of the beautiful buildings you'll find.

This is a very beautiful area of Riga with many Art Nouveau buildings Riga is famous for. Best examples are on Elizabeth St. and especially on Albert St. Walk slowly and admire this exceptional facades and you'll feel neck pain while looking up. It's gorgeous both, day and night when they're illuminated.

Brilliant evocation of the period (early 1900s), great staff in costume ready to explain everything in English.

Difficult to pick the best place. There are a couple of streets with stunning art noveau buildings. Unusual and outstanding architecture!

This architecture is all over Riga, but more in the Quiet Center, especially in Alberta Street. Most tourists walk around with their mouths wide open when they see these unusual and beautiful buildings!

You can walk here easily from Old Town, about 10 minutes. Beautiful art nouveau buildings. It was the artistic area. If you like old architecture then it is interesting.

If you like walking at least a tiny bit, and if you have any interest in architecture, or specifically Art Nouveau architecture, this part of the city is a must-see. The renovated buildings (now nearly 80%) are simply stunning. You will find great cafes and restaurants in this area, too.

Jugenda is a term for Art Nouveau style, at Albert Street. When seeing the name of the ‘attraction’ in a travel guide, I thought it was a street. Well, actually it is a street—lined with buildings constructed in the Art Nouveau architectural style of the late 1800s ending with World War I. Walk along Albert Street—named for Riga’s founder Bishop... More

The art nouveau townhouses in the silent quarter are a very easy walk away to the north east from the old town. Choose a dry, sunny day so you can see the detailing on each building more clearly. It's the German Jugendstil variant so a bit more symmetrical than you'll see in Brussels for example, but still incredible. Most buildings... More
