Authentic rustic ex-pharmacy. Tasty desserts, good coffee, nice to see once. The flyer said there's some show to see, but we were very late, so we just had some desserts and drinks.

Black Balsam was said to have originated in the basement of the Black Magic bar, at the time it was an apothecary. The bar has maintained all its charm, with its upholstered seats and traditionally dressed staff.

We stopped here for a warming hot chocolate and it was the simply the best hot chocolate we have ever had. You are served with a glass of warm milk …with a spoon in a solid chocolate cup. As the chocolate melts the drink becomes definitely an out of this world seriously chocolaty experience.

Too bad the personnel is so unwelcoming. This is actually a very nice and cosy bar where you can sit down in a very unusual environment. You are brought back into a distant past and there are many details of this old pharmacy turned café that will intreague you. But here is where the good things stop. Staff is unwelcoming,... More

We sought this place out on a recent visit to Riga. It looks as stunning in person as it is in the photos. It feels like a Harry Potter-esque / alchemy cafe, complete with false doors. It really is incredibly put together! Shame the manager lady was so rude. Really uncalled for. Other reviewers have noticed this as well. She... More

Lovely bar in the Old Town where they serve Black Balzam. Sit down, relax, have some coffee and Black Balzam and enjoy! Nice atmosphere, very good coffee and pastries. This place takes you back at least 100 years.

A 'must visit' in Riga, if you like chocolate - they create some of the most delicious chocolates I've tasted. Worth stopping by to drink some of the famous Latvian balsam, which is very nice when taken in one of Black Magic's wonderful cocktails.

We popped in here for a quick drink and a few chocolates - fantastic! The historical feel of the place is brilliant, the chocolates are well worth 1 euro each that they cost and the black balsam cocktails delicious! Wish there was one near me!

We visited the Black Magic Bar since it was recommended in TripAdvisor by quite many travellers and I have to say that I loved the experience! The interior, the products and even the way the staff is dressed just makes the whole thing better and better. We had coffee, chocolates and some desserts from the list and everything was really...
